I realize that no two people are the same and I am not an expert in your life. I try my best to cater therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. I am here to point out things I am noticing and to help you to reach your goals. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD or any other issue, I will sit in the passenger seat and show you the map with the options of where you can take us on this journey.
My practice specializes in treating individuals and couples. I offer comprehensive services dealing with:
You have seen it all, and you will see it over and over again. Finding a therapist who is culturally competent so you are not spending too much time explaining the logistics of the job, or one who will just tell you to "lay off the coffee" is hard. You deserve specialized care and treatment in a space that is empathetic, understanding, and safe. I am passionate about creating this environment for you, where we can addresses the unique mental and behavioral health concerns related to being a first responder, so that you can put down the heavy load you carry as a result of serving your community.
To have experienced religious trauma, adverse religious experiences, or to be questioning/stepping away from religious beliefs you once held is incredibly difficult. Creating a safe space to identify and breakdown any judgement or shame you might have around questioning or leaving your religious beliefs, learning to navigate changing relationships with family and friends, exploring your identity as a person when it’s not tied to a specific faith, and helping you to feel a sense of empowerment as you become more autonomous is the primary focus.
Couples therapy is a type of therapy that helps couples communicate better, resolve conflict, and build a stronger relationship. Often times, we believe that seeking couples therapy is for when the relationship is struggling. The reality is that couples therapy can be helpful at any time of the relationship. Whenever there is change (marriage, pregnancy, loss, a move, retirement, buying a new home, etc..), whenever we feel stuck, or when we want more understanding. Couples therapy can be a place for you to work together to strengthen your relationship.
EMDR is a psychotherapy that stimulates information that has has been locked into the brain with original picture, sounds, thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. EMDR procedures utilize eye movements, tactile, and/or auditory stimulation to help reprocess traumatic memories and reduce emotional distress that is associated with these memories.
I have worked in a variety of environments as a therapist, including crisis centers, IOP, and private practice.
I believe in providing support and care to future therapists, and am working toward being able to provide supervision to associate therapists soon.
Supervision will be provided via HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform, unless you would like to meet in person local to San Diego.
